An analysis of variation of leaf characters in Quercus robur L. and Quercus petraea (Matt.) Liebl. population samples from Northern Ireland
Samples of leaves were examined from 1087 trees in 35 'populations' at 32 sites throughout N. Ireland. Hybrid ancestry was assigned to 145 trees (13.3%). Based on proportions of Q. robur, Q. petraea and hybrids, 8 population types were distinguished.
