Application of herbicides on rangelands with a carpeted roller: evaluation of four herbicides for control of honey mesquite

Application of herbicides on rangelands with a carpeted roller: evaluation of four herbicides for control of honey mesquite

Journal of Range Management 38(3): 233-237

A carpeted roller, designed to wipe herbicide solution onto brush stems and foliage, was evaluated for control of Prosopis juliflora var. glandulosa at 34 sites in Texas in 1981-2. Applications of 30-120 g picloram or clopyralid/l killed P. glandulosa canopies at all sites whether applied in spring or autumn. Root kill by picloram varied from 38% of plants treated under drought in S. Texas to 97% in opt. conditions in central Texas.
