Assessment of losses in yield of 'Phule Pragati' groundnut caused by insect pests

A field experiment was carried out in the Jalgaon region of Maharashtra, India, in the rainy seasons of 1980-82 to assess the yield losses of Phule Pragati, a high-yielding bunch variety of groundnut, caused by insect pests and the cost:benefit ratio of applying pesticides. The results showed that such losses averaged 15.87% and were mainly due to Aphis craccivora and Aproaerema modicella.
