Biochemical characteristics of proteins of grain endosperm of normal and high-lysine maize

Electrophoresis at pH 8.9 and 4.3 on polyacrylamide gel showed that the introduction of opaque-2 gene into normal maize had no marked influence on the grain albumin component composition. When separated at pH 2.9 the component composition of albumins of opaque-2 analogues differed from the original hybrid by having 2 main components. Globulins separated in alkaline or acid gels had no marked differences.
