Blood protein variation in the Ceylon jungle fowl and native fowl in Sri Lanka

Blood protein variation in the Ceylon jungle fowl and native fowl in Sri Lanka

Report of the Society for Researches on Native Livestock, Japan (11): 193-207

In order to study the relationships between jungle and native fowls from various countries in Asia and Southeast Asia, the variation in each type was estimated from gene frequencies at 17 loci controlling blood proteins. Two new gene variants, Es-1D and Amy-1D, were detected in plasma esterase and amylase resp. in the Ceylon jungle fowl and the Sri Lanka native fowl only. The gene frequency of Es-1D was 0.818 in the Ceylon jungle fowl and 0.079 in the Sri Lanka native fowl.
