Root nodules were collected daily during 1-7 Mar. 1984 at 50, 100 and 150 cm from the stems of two E. poeppigiana grown as shade trees in a coffee plantation at Turrialba, Costa Rica. Average hourly rates of acetylene reduction activity were 15.7 nmole/mg. Root nodules collected at different distances from the stem did not differ in their activity.
