C4 photosynthetic characteristics of Panicum species in the Dichotomiflora group (Gramineae)

C4 photosynthetic characteristics of Panicum species in the Dichotomiflora group (Gramineae)

JARQ Japan Agricultural Research Quarterly 19(2): 125-131

There were differences among 6 species and among 6 strains of P. coloratum in position of the chloroplasts in the Kranz (bundle sheath) cells of the leaf; in some species and cultivars the chloroplasts were in the centripetal position (P) on the cell walls adjacent to the vascular bundles, and in others they were centrifugal (F), on the cell walls adjacent to the mesophyll cells.
