In 2-season trials satsumas were stored for 3 months at 3 degrees C and 92% RH in CA (2.8 to 6.5% O2 + 1% CO2 and 93.5 to 97.2% N2) or in ordinary storage (control) and their weight losses and changes in organoleptic quality and biochemical composition were determined. Weight losses were much lower in CA (1.2-1.5%) than in the control (6.5-6.7%) and fruit colour, flavour, aroma and consistency were also better in CA.
