The computer model, an adjunct to Version 5.0 of the Stand Prognosis Model, predicts tree canopy closure, crown vol., crown profile area and foliage biomass within vertical ht. classes and the probability of occurrence, ht. and cover of shrubs in forest in the N. Rocky Mts. The model may be used to provide a descriptive summary of a stand at the time of inventory or to project overstorey and understorey development in natural and managed stands.
