Ca-ATPase of barley root cell plasmalemma: properties and location

Ca-ATPase of barley root cell plasmalemma: properties and location

Fiziologiya Rastenii 32(6): 1079-1089

An ecto-Ca-ATPase with opt. activity at pH 6 was discovered in a microsomal fraction enriched with plasma membranes from barley roots and on the surface of the intact root. The enzyme did not require Mg2+ but was specific to ATP and Ca2+, the latter activating the enzyme at micro M concn. without inhibiting it at mM concn. The Ca-ATPase of the microsomal fraction was inhibited 20% by cyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD) and diethylstilbestrol (DES) and 80% by NaF.
