Cadmium in the Icelandic environment

Cadmium in the Icelandic environment

Islenzkar Landbunaarrannsoknir 16(1/2): 16-20

In field trials at Samsstair and Akureyri the Cd concn. in fertilizers and in grass fertilized with 0-39 kg P/ha were measured. In fertilizers the Cd concn. was proportional to the P concn. in the mixture. At Samsstair the Cd concn. increased from 0.04 p.p.m. with no fertilizer to 0.073 p.p.m. with 39 kg P/ha. At Akureyri, the Cd concn. increased from 0.025 p.p.m. with no P to 0.031 p.p.m. with 39 kg P/ha. In all experiments, hay yield was increased by increasing the P rate.
