Calcium and phosphorus metabolism in high-yielding cows on diets with varying sugar:protein ratios

Calcium and phosphorus metabolism in high-yielding cows on diets with varying sugar:protein ratios

Doklady VASKhNIL (8): 23-24

High-yielding Black Pied cows were fed on green herbage from pasture dressed with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium at 300, 90 and 120 kg/ha, respectively; or that diet supplemented with molasses or sugarbeet to increase the sugar:protein ratios. Increasing the sugar:protein ratios increased the retention of P and calcium.
