Calcium and phosphorus metabolism in man. 3. Absorption of phosphates of differant chain lengths in miniature pigs

Calcium and phosphorus metabolism in man. 3. Absorption of phosphates of differant chain lengths in miniature pigs

Aktuelle Ernahrungsmedizin 10(1): 30-33

During 4 periods of usually 22 to 26 days 8 adult male Gottingen pigs of 27 to 40 kg had commercial basal diet once daily at 12 g/kg or preferably 430 g daily, supplying at most 1.9 g phosphorus, supplemented by Na2HPO4, Na4P2O7, Na5P3O10 and (NaPO3)x at 0.9 to 3.6 g P daily, preceded and followed by days without supplement. All P ingested, regardless of source or amount, was excreted. Proportions in faeces and urine indicated reduced absorption with (NaPO3)x.
