Calcium utilization in pregnant rats fed soy protein isolate

Calcium utilization in pregnant rats fed soy protein isolate

Nutritional Science of Soy Protein Japan 4(1): 46-51

Pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 190 g were given diets with 0.6% calcium, mainly as CaCO3, and 20% soya protein isolate (SPI) or casein for 21 days. Rats given the SPI diet absorbed less Ca than did those given the casein diet.
