Calcium-phosphorus nutrition of the laying hens

Calcium-phosphorus nutrition of the laying hens

Proceedings of the 1985 Cornell Nutrition Conference: 106-113

From results of 3 experiments it is concluded that (1) high dietary concentrations of calcium (6.5%) may affect production performance in the post-moult period, (2) short durations of high-Ca feeding does not seem to affect the production performance of younger hens, (3) absence of a significant interaction between Ca and phosphorus on production parameters in the range used (Ca 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5%; P 0.2, 0.44 and 0.64%) indicates that Ca:P ratio is not crucial to laying hens.
