Calculating stresses in the glueline when drying finger-jointed pieces of lumber

Calculating stresses in the glueline when drying finger-jointed pieces of lumber

Lesnoi Zhurnal (3): 71-74

An analysis is made of the normal and tangential stresses occurring in the glueline of finger-jointed boards as a result of shrinkage. It is shown that the stresses depend on the difference between the shrinkage of the board and the total shrinkage of the finger joint.
