Calf housing in a warm climate

Calf housing in a warm climate

Dairy Housing II Proceedings of Second National Dairy Housing Conference, March 14-16, 1983, Madison, Wisconsin, USA ASAE SP 4-83: 235-243

The temp. changes in South Carolina, USA, are discussed with reference to the calf environment and design of calf housing. Mortality rates were surveyed for different facilities but showed little difference for various housing units; management of calf housing was the most important factor in health care. Labour requirements are tabulated but total labour for hutches, sheds or barns is equivalent.
