Calibration and testing of nutrient and pesticide transport models

Agricultural management and water quality: 267-277

This paper develops and applies a protocol for model calibration and testing, using ARM (Agricultural Runoff Management) and NPS (Nonpoint Source Runoff) models as examples. Calibration was performed both manually and using an automated Gauss-Newton search algorithm. The models could be calibrated fairly well for monthly and seasonal values as well as for runoff and sediment over one- to two-year periods.
