California red scale. Pheromone monitoring is cost-effective

California red scale. Pheromone monitoring is cost-effective

California Agriculture 39(9/10): 17-19

The history of monitoring the diaspidid Aonidiella aurantii on citrus in California is briefly reviewed, and the relative costs of monitoring by visual counts and by sex pheromone traps are compared by means of a mathematical formula that is described.
