Callus growth factors and shoot production in Actinidia chinensis Pl. and Actinidia arguta Pl

Callus growth factors and shoot production in Actinidia chinensis Pl. and Actinidia arguta Pl

Rivista della Ortoflorofrutticoltura Italiana 70(1): 49-56

Callus was cultured on Gamborg mineral substrate with mannitol (0.05 M), NAA (0.25 mu M) and other additives (described). In both species fresh weight production fell with each subculture, irrespective of substrate, but shoot formation increased, the best results being obtained with sucrose, zeatin (25 mu M) and NAA. There was a positive correlation between morphogenetic potential and the age of the callus. Mannitol had a negative effect on growth and shoot formation.
