Campylobacter enteritis associated with consumption of raw goat's milk

Campylobacter enteritis associated with consumption of raw goat's milk

Lancet 1(8436): 1037-1038

A case study reports the association of severe diarrhea in a young boy, living in a rural town, with campylobacter enteritis caused by drinking raw goat's milk. Campylobacters were identified in an isolate from the patient and from milk and feces from the family's goats. A restriction was placed on the sale of the farmer's goat milk for human consumption until 6 consecutive samples of bulk milk and milk filters were tested to be free of pathogenic bacteria.(wz)
