Campylobacter jejuni: a major cause of enterocolitis in kennelled dogs

Campylobacter jejuni: a major cause of enterocolitis in kennelled dogs

Clinica Veterinaria 53(5): 303-308

In a breeding kennel reporting an outbreak of acute haemorrhagic enterocolitis C. jejuni was isolated from faecal samples of 15 of 39 sick puppies, 9 of 84 normal puppies, and 4 of 47 normal adult dogs; intestines of 2 of 3 sick puppies also yielded C. jejuni; no Salmonella, Shigella or coccidia were found. In another kennel it was isolated from one of 7 puppies with diarrhoea, one of 8 normal puppies and 2 of 19 normal adults.
