Can mastitis produce a false-positive result to the gamma-glutamyltransferase test for liver function in cattle?

Mastitis was accompanied by a fall in the gamma-glutamyltransferase activity of milk from the affected quarter, but it had no effect on the enzyme activity of blood, and consequently did not interfere with this test for liver function.
