Characterization of milk constituents of Bos taurus and Bos indicus X Bos taurus breed types

Characterization of milk constituents of Bos taurus and Bos indicus X Bos taurus breed types

3rd World Congress on Genetics applied to Livestock Production, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA, July 16-22, 1986 IX Breeding programs for dairy and beef cattle, water buffalo, sheep, and goats: 308-313

Milk from 128 cows of 8 breed types (Hereford, Red Poll (RP), Hereford X RP, RP X Hereford, Aberdeen-Angus (AA) X Hereford, AA X Charolais, Brahman X Hereford, and Brahman X AA) was evaluated for percentages and yields of fat, protein, lactose and SNF. Milk samples were collected approx. 60, 105 and 150 days after the onset of lactation, by hand milking the left front quarter following a 30-IU oxytocin injection.
