In trials with spring wheat grown on a grey forest soil, placement of 60-90 kg N + 60 kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O/ha at 8-10 cm depth with a drill was superior to broadcast application of NPK in increasing soil nutrient contents, grain yields and quality; 90 kg N/ha was more effective than 60 kg N/ha.
