Chickpea germplasm evaluation for resistance to Ascochyta blight under artificial conditions

Of 5048 Cicer arietinum lines received from ICRISAT, 3360 were screened in 1983-84 in the field under artificial epiphytotic conditions. No line was immune from attack by A. rabiei but 10, 45 and 85 lines had disease ratings of 2, 3 and 4, respectively, on a 1-9 scale and were considered resistant. Seventy were tolerant (5 on the scale).
