Investigations conducted on a marine silt loam soil since 1975 have compared the effectiveness of minimum tillage (seedbed preparation only) with conventional tillage (primary tillage + seed bed preparation) in a wide, six-year crop rotation consisting of spring barley - flax + white clover - potatoes - winter wheat - brown beans - sugar beet.
