Correlation between tannin content and testa color in faba beans (Vicia faba L.)

Correlation between tannin content and testa color in faba beans (Vicia faba L.)

FABIS Newsletter, Faba Bean Information Service, ICARDA (13): 38-40

Seeds of 4 segregates from Polycarpe with testa colour ranging from light brown to black, and a selection of white seeds, were assayed quaitatively and quantitatively for testa tannin content. White testas were tannin-free, but coloured testas all contained tannins.
