Cropping systems and determinants: factors influencing cropping patterns, fertilizer-use and resource-use efficiency

The study explains variations in cropping systems across sites for lowland, rainfed, rice-based areas in the Philippines. It identifies relationships between system determinants and cropping patterns (rice-rice, double-crop), fertilizer use and resource productivity. An index, the Resource Equivalent Ratio, was developed to indicate the productivity of resources, land, labour and capital.
