Abstract
In the BC4 from (N. rustica X N. alata) X N. tabacum, cytoplasmically male-sterile plants with normal corolla but altered stamens were obtained. The most common alteration was of the carpeloid stamen type (stamen with short filament modified into a secondary pistil); the other type involved stamens converted into an elongate style ending in a secondary stigma. Anther locules were absent.
