Indirect immunofluorescence assay of a continuously cultured T-cell line (BTL-C3), derived from a calf type of leukosis, demonstrated a new tumour cell antigen designated BTLA. Antibodies against BTLA were found in 6 of 7 cattle with the calf type of leukosis, 3 of 3 cattle with the thymic type, and one animal with the skin type; all these animals were negative for bovine, oncovirus antibodies.
