Differences in dispersal of two associated nematodes, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and Bursaphelenchus mucronatus in pine seedlings in relation to the pine wilt disease development

Two-yr-old seedlings of Pinus densiflora were inoculated with suspensions of B. xylophilus or B. mucronatus (via stem cuts). Root systems of sample seedlings were immersed in acid fuchsin sol. overnight at 3-day intervals, and stems then dissected at 2-cm intervals to detect oleoresin leaks into the xylem. Other seedlings were dissected to determine nematode distributions.
