Differences in growth of fattened bulls and heifers of different genotypes

Data were obtained on bulls (7-26 per group) and heifers (5-17 per group) born to 75% Slovakian Pied-25% Ayrshire dams and sired by Red-and-White Holstein (RWH), Aquitaine Blond (AB), Charolais, Chiana or Limousin bulls. For the 5 types of bull progeny, body weight at the end of fattening averaged 548.4, 549.1, 549.2, 539.4 and 542.9 kg resp., daily gain from 7 to 15 months of age 804, 824, 791, 762 and 852 g, and daily gain from birth to the end of fattening 779, 776, 781, 702 and 736 g.
