Differences in hybrid fry production between two strains of the Nile tilapia

Tilapia (Oreochromis) nilotica, T. hornorum, T. mossambica and T. aurea were used for interspecific hybridization in hatchery containers and in earth ponds. Variation in spawning frequency of individual in the same container was noted for most cross combinations. Large differences in the success of hybridization and fry production were noted between of 2 strains of T. nilotica when hybridized with T. aurea or T. hornorum in hatchery containers and ponds.
