Differences in the electrophysiological resistance of maize lines and hybrids to periodically recurring low temperatures

When the electrical reaction of the leaves of seedlings to a periodically repeated reduction in air temperature from 20 degrees to 0 degrees C every 4 h at the rate of 14 degrees h, the magnitude of reaction to each preceding treatment fell in the lines but remained unchanged in the hybrids. This was true in the dark and in the light for seedlings 10, 14 and 15 days old. Data are presented on seedlings 10 and 15 days old for the lines F7 and VIR44.
