Differences with respect to yield structure in ti-forms of Vicia faba after crossing and backcrossing with normal types

A promising ti (determinate flowering) strain, 22092/77, was crossed and backcrossed with 5 male partners in the subspecies minor and equina. The parents and progenies were scored for yield/plant and 11 of its components. Seeds/pod was 20% lower in the ti strain than in the indeterminate Fribo, number of podding nodes was 10% lower, and yield/plant was almost halved. High yielding ti strains appeared at a high frequency in the F3BC1 of crosses of 22092/77 with indeterminate parents.
