Increase in the 90 degrees light scattering following addition of Cd2+, Zn2+, Co2+ and Ni2+ to barley PSI particles isolated with Triton X-100 depended on the ionic radius of heavy metals; there was no increase in light scattering with PSII particles. The ions produced no change in yield of chlorophyll a in most cases.
