Differential varieties against the flax rust pathogen as donors of resistance for breeding

Sbornik Nauchnykh Trudov po Prikladnoi Botanike, Genetike i Selektsii 92: 51-56

Using Melampsora lini resistant lines of 7 foreign flax varieties, crosses were made with the universally susceptible variety Orshanskii 2. Following artificial infection of the F1 and F2 with the local pathogen population and 5 strains, it was shown that resistance in the varieties was controlled by 2 genes. Hybrids involving varieties Bombay, Kenya and Polk were resistant to the population and all strains, with resistance apparently controlled by 2 dominant genes.
