Differentially Regulated Isozymes of 3-Deoxy-d-arabino-Heptulosonate-7-Phosphate Synthase from Seedlings of Vigna radiata [L.] Wilczek

Isoenzymes of 3-deoxy-D-arabino-heptulosonate-7-phosphate synthase, designated DS-Mn and DS-Co, were separated from V. radiata seedlings. DS-Mn was activated 2.6-fold by 0.4 mM Mn, had an opt. pH of 7.0 and was substrate inhibited by 0.5 mM erythrose-4-phosphate. DS-Co had an opt. pH of 8.8, required erythrose-4-phosphate concn. of <more or =>4 mM to approach saturation and had an absolute requirement for a divalent cation, particularly Co.
