Differentiation between grains from two-row and six-row barley varieties grown in Romania

An investigation of grain from 4 varieties of six-row and 7 of two-row barley showed that the presence and form of the rachilla at the base of the grain does not serve to differentiate the two types. The ratio between symmetrical and asymmetrical grains was the best differentiating character.
