Differentiation of Clostridium tyrobutyricum

Differentiation of Clostridium tyrobutyricum

Deutsche Molkerei Zeitung 106(13): 362, 364-367

The formazan colour test for lactate dehydrogenase was adapted and used for differentiation of Clostridium tyrobutyricum from other clostridia. The procedure and reagents are fully described, raw milk being pre-heated at 83 degrees C for 15 min to exclude interference by propionic acid bacteria and lactic acid bacteria. Results of tests with different clostridial spp. are tabulated.
