Differentiation of photorespiratory activity between mesophyll and bundle sheath cells of C4 plants. II. Peroxisomes of Panicum miliaceum L

Differentiation of photorespiratory activity between mesophyll and bundle sheath cells of C4 plants. II. Peroxisomes of Panicum miliaceum L

Plant and Cell Physiology 26(5): 797-803

Peroxisomes were isolated by sucrose density gradient centrifugation from mesophyll and bundle sheath protoplasts from leaves of P. miliaceum plants 8-11 days after sowing. The equilibrium density in the gradient was 1.25 for bundle sheath peroxisomes and 1.23 for mesophyll peroxisomes. Photorespiratory and other microbody enzymes were assayed to detect possible differentiation at the enzyme level.
