Diffusion of bound water in wood. Part 1: the driving force

The driving force for steady-state diffusion has been considered to be the gradient in moisture concn., which is proportional to moisture flux according to Fick's law. Experimental results have shown that Fick's law is not applicable, and evidence is presented to support the hypothesis that spreading pressure gradient is the driving force for isothermal moisture movement.
