Digenetic trematodes of marine fishes from the Kuwaiti coast of the Arabian Gulf

Digenetic trematodes of marine fishes from the Kuwaiti coast of the Arabian Gulf

Kuwait Bulletin of Marine Science, 1-22 No. 3

In July and August 1978 a total of 165 fish of 35 species in 19 families were collected from the Kuwaiti coast of the Arabian Gulf. This is considered to be the first report on helminths in fish in this area. Only the digeneans found are described in this paper. Opisthadena kuwaiti n.sp. from the stomach of Valamugil seheli resembles O. karachii but differs from it in being larger, having a thick-walled seminal vesicle extending anterior to the testis, and in the testes being tandem.
