Digester design, operation and performance

Digester design, operation and performance

Anaerobic digestion of farm waste Proceedings of meeting, NIRD, Reading, UK, July 1983: 29-40

The factors that govern the economics of anaerobic digesters are examined: materials for digestion; their amount and condition; water addition; sand, grit and non-biodegradable matter and inhibitors; age of slurries. Digester equipment is analysed in terms of size, shape, heating, mixing, loading and unloading. Pre-digestion and post-digestion equipment is also briefly mentioned, e.g. slurry separators, choppers, dewatering equipment, machinery for land application.
