Digestibility and fermentation rates of alfalfa and orchardgrass with different cutting dates

Digestibility and fermentation rates of alfalfa and orchardgrass with different cutting dates

Journal of the Korean Society of Grassland Science 5(1): 84-89

Medicago sativa and Dactylis glomerata were cut on 4 dates between 14 May and 14 Oct. DM, ash and CP contents increased with time and CF, cell wall, ADF, cellulose and hemicellulose contents decreased. In vitro DM digestibility was 54.85, 55.66, 56.85 and 63.90% for M. sativa and 67.86, 70.91, 69.88 and 75.88% for D. glomerata when cut on 14 May, 15 July, 22 Aug. and 14 Oct.
