Digestibility of Leucaena material and the influence of mimosine on digestibility in ruminants

Digestibility of Leucaena material and the influence of mimosine on digestibility in ruminants

Landwirtschaftliche Forschung 38(3): 280-286

Digestibility of Leucaena leucocephala leaf OM, CP, crude fat, CF and NFE determined in 4 wethers introduced gradually to a Leucaena diet was 65.9, 64.8, 42.7, 44.3 and 76.3%, resp. OM digestibility of leaf meal, seed meal, untreated leaves and leaves washed to remove toxins was 56.6, 71.3, 60.1 and 47.9%, resp. CP content was markedly higher in seed meal than in other fodders. No toxic symptoms were observed.
