Digestibility of feeds for rabbits; comparison of the Weende and Van Soest methods of estimating fibre fractions

Digestibility of feeds for rabbits; comparison of the Weende and Van Soest methods of estimating fibre fractions

Coniglicoltura 22(1): 37-42

Digestibility trials with New Zealand White rabbits given 45 simple and compound rabbit feeds showed a significant correlation between crude fibre estimated by the method of Weende, and between acid detergent fibre (ADF) and neutral detergent fibre (NDF) estimated by the method of Van Soest. On the basis of the Lucas test, NDF but not ADF showed a uniformity of availability in the feeds examined.
