Digestibility of nutrients and metabolism of minerals in first-calving cows maintained on long-established sown pastures

Digestibility of nutrients and metabolism of minerals in first-calving cows maintained on long-established sown pastures

Novye v kormlenii krupnogo rogatogo skota: 46-51

Throughout pregnancy and during the 1st month after calving, heifers were kept on a sown perennial pasture dressed with a nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. The heifers were given no supplement or supplementary vitamin A (Mikrovit A) or vitamin D (irradiated yeasts) or a mixture of minerals and vitamins. Digestibility of nutrients was studied between the 2nd and 3rd months of lactation. Enriching the diet had no obvious effect on digestibility of organic matter, K and sodium.
