Digestibility of nutrients in purebred and crossbred cows

Digestibility of nutrients in purebred and crossbred cows

Vestsi Akademii Navuk BSSR, Sel' skagaspadarchykh Navuk (2): 87-90, 125

During 20 days the digestibility of a diet based on grass hay and silage, barley straw and concentrates was estimated in Black Pied X Holstein-Friesian (BP X H), Black Pied X Jersey (BP X J) and purebred Black Pied cows. Digestibility of protein was 1.15 and 2.95% higher in BP X H cows than in the other 2 breeds, respectively. Digestibility of organic matter, cellulose and especially fats was highest in BP X J cows. Nitrogen balance was positive in all breeds.
